Go Young-GYO (Home) vs New Ampang Youth Club-NAYC (Away)

Taman Connaught 2100

Final Score 54-67

Both teams started out slow in the first quarter, with NAYC taking advantage of turnovers by GYO to finish the quarter strong at 11-19. The teams continued trading baskets in the second quarter, with Mohamad Amin (#14) & Sassin Selvaraja (#2) pacing GYO with outside shots and free throws, while Raphael Yap Hoy Kong (#10) and Syahrul Rosli (#22) continued attacking the baskets and making layups for NAYC. NAYC were missing their free throws, but managed to keep hold of their lead and the halftime score stood at 24-35.

NAYC’s #22 was controlling the game throughout, grabbing rebounds and leading fastbreaks, and helped ramped their lead up to 18 points early in the third. GYO’s turnover problems persisted in the third quarter, but they started to take advantage of their length and size by winning the rebounding battle. They couldn’t capitalize on their rebounding edge as the GYO players shot less than 40% from the field in comparison to NAYC’s near 50% shooting, but still managed to keep up and bring the lead down to finish the quarter at 41-49.

The fourth quarter started fairly tight, both teams used their advantages well to counter the opponent, NAYC with their speed and quickness, GYO with their size and length. GYO were able to cut the lead down to 2 points, however NAYC kept their composure, and lead by #10 who scored 10 points in the quarter, the team overall made some key shots and stops to halt GYO’s charge, and the game was over when NAYC was able to push the lead back up to double digits. NAYC’s #10 finished the game with 19 points, while #22 finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds & 3 assist.
